Second edition of the Civil Participation Index

15 June 2017

The Citizen Participation Forum along with the Bulgarian Center for Not-for-profit Law is compiling a Civil Participation Index for the second time.

The Civil Participation Index in Bulgaria is held every two years.

The first edition was held in 2015. The goal of the examination is to evaluate the social and political environment and to analyze the practices, the acts and the effects of civil participation in the country.

The idea for developing the methodology and the index is inspired by the changes and dynamics of the manifestations of civil participation. Their influence and effects have varying success. How do civil organizations work? What is the effect of their activities? Do the institutions ignore their suggestions or is there a tendency towards successful partnerships. These are only some of the questions for which we seek answers through the current edition of the index.

For this reason we ask civil organizations to fill out the attached short survey (it takes around 15 minutes) and share their opinions on the matter at hand.

The opinions of civil organizations along with an examination of the public's dispositions, as well as these of municipalities and institutions will be the basis for a general assessment of the condition of civil participation in the country and a starting point for improving these practices.

The summarized data will be presented around October – November.
