BCNL SIGNED A FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT WITH COMMISSION FOR PROTECTION AGAINST DISCRIMINATION

22 June 2007

Bulgarian Center for Not-for-Profit Law signed a framework agreement with the Commission for protection against discrimination on June 22th 2007. This agreement aims at unifying the efforts of the two partners to introduce and popularize the Bulgarian and European legislation concerning equal treatment across the NGO sector and state and local administration.

The anti-discrimination legislation in Bulgaria enables non-profit organizations to be a litigant in court or before the Commission for issues of anti-discrimination. The possibility for active participation of NGOs in the process of protection against discrimination will provide an effective and accessible protection of a wide range of people from vulnerable groups which don’t have the resources needed to cope with the issue alone.

Various initiatives will be implemented under the framework agreement such as organizing seminars and trainings, conducting research and analysis and other.
