The publication ”Philanthropy for Cultural Organizations in Bulgaria” is issued by the Bulgarian Center for Not-for-Profit Law with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The authors aim to present the existing legislative regime for cultural organizations, as well as the regulated possibilities for philanthropy and sponsorship for cultural initiatives and the tax benefits in this area.

The first part of the analysis describes the legal framework for the cultural organizations (public and non-governmental) in Bulgaria, upon the regulations of the Culture Protection and Development Act – incorporation, activity, fundraising.

The second part of the material is focused on the taxation of the philanthropy for cultural organizations, as well as the distinction between the legislative arrangement of donations, advertisements and sponsorship.

At the end of the issue, some samples of donation contracts and other useful documents are provided.
